Since opening it’s doors almost 20 years ago, Supreme has grown to become the premier streetwear imprint in the world, and 2013 was their biggest year yet. Not only have they released a whole slew of wildly popular Supreme-branded products, but they’ve done more collaborations and capsules than any other big name brand.
Simply put, they know what their supporters want, and they know how to give it to them.
As the year comes to a close, let’s look back on the 10 Best Supreme Collaborations of 2013. Then visit Supreme’s webstore to get your hands on these fine collaborations.
Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+ X Supreme
Back in October, Supreme partnered with Nike for the blockbuster release of their joint Flyknit Lunar 1+. It was straight forward — black-on-grey, cut-off Supreme branding — but it was the understated elegance that made it arguably one of the biggest shoe releases of the year.
Supreme’s Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection
September found Supreme partnering with Jean-Michel Basquiat‘s estate to bring the New York artist’s designs to Supreme’s hoodies, T-Shirts, and outerwear. It’s likely that few of the people who stood in line to get their hands on this collaboration were alive when Basquiat was running the underground artwork in the Empire City, but that was the beauty of the capsule: bringing together two NY institutions from completely different eras.
Misfits X Supreme Spring/Summer Collection
The skeleton mascot for the 1977 horror punk band The Misfits found its way onto a small capsule of trench coats, buttondowns, T-Shirts, and 5-panel hats last Spring. It was a dark departure from Supreme’s flashy red aesthetic.
The North Face X Supreme Spring/Summer Collection
The North Face may specialize in the kind of thermo-efficient creations coveted by snow sporters, but the American imprint loves to get their streetwear on. They partnered with Supreme on a Mountain Parka featuring ripstop and 3M detailing along with a Day Pack Backpack and Roo II for Spring and, more recently, a Nuptse Jacket and Nuptse Vest for winter.
Nike SB Tennis Classic X Supreme
You could lump in Supreme’s collaboration with Nike on the Flyknit Lunar 1+’s with the work they did on Nike SB Tennis Classic, but the two shoes were so different — the first, so on-trend for 2013 and the second, such a throwback — that each deserves it’s own mention.
The pack’s highlight? The neon green offering. If you could pull that off, you were a streetwear champ.
COMME des GARCONS X Supreme Collection X Vans
Back in March, and then again in June, Supreme brought COMME des GARCONS‘ wild print aesthetic into their work,
The first capsule sported jackets, shirting, bucket caps, and 5-panel hats, while the second found Vans getting in on the fun with a run of hats.
Supreme’s Bruce Lee Collection
Following the success of its Basquiat collection, Supreme turned to Bruce Lee‘s estate for a capsule celebrating the iconic martial artist. Though the collaboration was far more in-your-face pop art then their Basquiat offering, it was another bold example of how working with Supreme can resurrect the work of cultural celebrities.
Vans X Supreme Spring/Summer Collection
Supreme collaborated again with Vans, this time on a deep floral print for their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. They took Peter Saville‘s signature designs, slathered them on Vans’ Sk8-His, Eras, and Chukkas, birthing an instant collectors item, and called the capsule gave their capsule “Power, Corruption, and Lies”.
Champion X Supreme 2013 Holiday Capsule
December found Supreme partnering with OG sportswear brand Champion on an all-over print crewneck and sweatpant combo. If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t know this was Supreme.
Levi’s X Supreme Fall/Winter Collection
Supreme and Levi’s have a deep collaborative partnership, and they ushered in the wintery months this year with a leafy camp capsule, featuring a custom fit Trucker Jacket, Overalls, Levi’s 505 Zip-Fly Canvas jean, Denim Quilted Shirt and Bell Hat. It was simultaneously rural-backwoods and on-trend urban.

Teaming up on a Holiday 2013 collection, Todd Snyder and Champion have tapped the sportswear brand’s rich heritage for inspiration. Introducing a range of sportswear infused staples — varsity jackets, sweats and track pants — the collection does a nice job of capturing a vintage essence in each piece, while cut and detailing helps maintains a more contemporary feel. Outerwear is the clear focus in this offering, highlighted by that inimitable brown suede letterman jacket. The collection is available over here.

Pharrell Williams recently took his i am OTHER label to Hong Kong where he debuted BLOHK PARTY, a one day music festival that brought together hip hop and dance heavyweights such as Pusha T, Busy P and Steve Aoki, alongside local acts like LMF, Edison Chen and 24 Herbs. Presenting a specially curated line-up that amalgamated music, art and food, artists painted next to the city’s striking skyline, and pop-up restaurants provided gourmet recipes to those looking for a bite under the sun. Elsewhere, the Vans stage offered nail grooming services for the ladies, while gents received rockabilly-inspired comb-over buzz cuts. As the evening progressed, French electro stalwarts Ed Banger Records celebrated their 10th anniversary with back-to-back sets. Meanwhile, Pharrell rounded up the evening via a dynamic performance on the i am OTHER x CLOT stage, flaunting his falsetto over timeless classics like “Rockstar” and “Frontin,” next to 2013 howitzer “Happy,” “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines.” Fair to say BLOHK PARTY 2013 was nothing short of spectacular, cast your eyes over the photos above and stay tuned for the recap video.
