8 Basketball Shoes That Should Be Retroed Soon
Earlier this week, we considered eight awesome basketball shoes that will likely never get the retro treatment. No need to fret, there are plenty of great hoops silos that should be set to hit stores soon. Keeping in mind trends in release and demand for product, we spotlight eight hardwood favorites we anticipate returning as retros in the near future.
adidas KB8 II

Released: 1998
Worn By: Kobe Bryant
Likely to be dubbed the ‘Crazy 8 II’ in retro form, this Kobe signature seems like a sure thing with adidas Basketball’s recent push of iconic Feet You Wear models and their endorsement by NBA players. We’d love to see these return in the OG colorways, but modern PEs might be even better. Could you imagine an orange or blue based pair for Iman Shumpert? A red colorway for Damian Lillard? Crazy indeed.

Best You’ll Never Have: 8 Basketball Shoes That Won’t Get Retroed
Even in the abundant climate of retros, re-retros, and revamps, some basketball shoes just aren’t coming back. Sure, it’d be great to have a chance to score every pair of kicks we ever wanted growing up, but when it comes down to business, some models won’t be remade or re-released. Here are eight hoops shoes we don’t see getting the retro treatment anytime soon, and our reasons why.
Nike Air Command Force

Reason: Cost
Though the technology used on the Nike Air Command Force is dated after two decades, it’d be incredibly expensive to re-up or rebuild. The asking price of 0 was crazy then, and the inflated retail on these pumped up kicks would be even wilder for a retro in 2013. We’d love to see these back, we just don’t see it happening in OG form. Would you buy an amended version like the Air Force 180 Mid retro?

The Best Basketball Shoes by Year of the 2000s
In a market dominated by ‘90s nostalgia, the 2000s get next to no love. Postseason Kick On Court sightings have helped peak interest in the decade of forgotten footwear, with the likes of the adidas The KOBE and the AND1 Tai Chi getting recent wear. Focused strictly on hoops, we take a look back at the best basketball shoes by year of the 2000s.
2000
AND 1 Tai Chi

From a sneaker standpoint, 2000 was Vince Carter’s year. Between Michael Jordan’s second retirement and the lockout season, NBA star power and morale was lacking. Enter Vinsanity and the infamous Dunk Contest. Rewriting the laws of physics and flight, the sophomore standout took home the title in jaw dropping fashion in the AND1 Tai Chi. Smart design, streetball steeze, and VC’s flight made the Tai Chi an instant classic that’s still recognizable.
Nike Shox BB4

If owning ASW wasn’t enough, VC took his high wire act overseas for the summer. Making the move to Nike, Vince would become the face and feet of the new Shox franchise in the Sydney Olympic Games. The BB4 would become synonymous with the ‘Dunk of Death’ against France and become the shoe of the sports spectacular. Coming in to the 2000-01 season, Vince would rock the Shox in T. Dot while top performers in the amateur ranks would unofficially endorse team bank colorways.
