If not on tour for his new album Paradise Valley, singer/songwriter John Mayer is tinkering with his vintage watch collection. In addition to his current horology holdings, which he discussed with the folks from HODINKEE a few months ago, Mayer recently showed two custom concepts that he long thought of, one that would be an update to the much sought after Rolex Oyster Date “Mickey Mouse” Dial. Based on the current Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, more commonly known as the Rolex Daytona ref. 116520, Mayer’s concept will have a matte black PVD finish along with an imprint of Disney’s famous mouse as the watch’s dial face. In an all-black design, there is a concept with white dial as well. Of course these are just concepts at this time, but with all of the resources available to him, it wouldn’t be too surprising that Mayer turn his dreams into realities one day.

After teasing us late last week with a brief walk through tour highlighting the intricate and precise construction process, Boston’s own CNCTPS alongside Red Wing Shoes present the Plain Toe Boot pack. After showing you the making of the Concepts for Red Wing Plain Toe Boot, we’ve now got a look at the finished product. For this collaboration, the team at Concepts opted to keep things nice and simple and let the materials do the talking. The uppers have been crafted using tumble washed premium leather with a suede outer and buttery soft leather interior. In contrast, the tongue of the boot has been done up in tumbled leather without the suede. The toe of the boot has been left unlined to give it a more springy, shoe-like feel and the whole package sits on a brand new outsole. The boots will be available in either navy or red exclusively at Concepts starting November 23.
