From 1985 hardwood sneaker to casual pair of kicks, the adidas Decade has continued to be a sneaker staple. The newest release is the adidas Decade OG Mid “Cardinal”. In a mid-cut silhouette, the sneaker features a mutli-tonal cardinal upper with suede and mesh paneling along paired with white branding. Another defining feature of the shoe is the gum-colored bottom. This pair is available now at retailers including shop adidas.

Seen in two colorways: black and red, each adidas Decade Mid OG included in this special edition collection will pair tonal uppers with snakeskin lined underlays, plus feature white soles, contrast signature branding, and celebratory hangtags for a festive look and finish.

The Chinese New Year starts for reals this weekend, so sneaker stores around the globe are getting stocked up on the bevvy of commemorative Year of the Snake releases. Snake skin print is perennially popular in shoe design, but we’ve seen an absolute infestation of the slithery creatures lately for CNY – they’ve been shedding onto just about every silhouette they can find. Thankfully, adidas haven’t gone overboard with their Year of the Snake Decade OG Mid – the print is used for the three stripes and heel counter but the rest of the upper is cloaked in red or black, making for a tip-top contrast. This tidy snake tamer’s sneak is rounded off by a bright white midsole. You can pick it up from Overkill now.

Mark Ong, also known as Sabotage (SBTG), doesn’t need an introduction from us. The man and the brand is known around the globe for not only his sneaker design skills for Nike, DC Shoes, and New Balance, but now Mark and his wife, Sue (aka Mr. and Mrs. Sabotage) have embarked on a solo art show entitled “Acoustic Anarchy,” which we previewed in late August. Given his imagination, eye for style, and design skills, its understandable that SBTG would need a larger medium to express himself and visual designs at the scale of those showcased at Acoustic Anarchy will continue to be a parallel pursuit alongside his sneaker work with similar shows already planned for 2013.

Capping off the latest adidas Originals drops at Kith NYC is a green version of the adidas Originals Decade Mid OG.

Artist, designer and illustrator Stephen Cheetham took on a personal projectover the last few weeks, expressing his love for Nike sneakers with a new series of prints. The series sees Cheetham document his favourite Nike sneakers for each decade since the ’70s. Limiting his choices to eight per decade, it must have been quite a task selecting which sneakers to include. The prints should be available to purchase soon, but in the meantime, check out an interview with the artist over at Art & Sole.
