There is no need to introduce the longstanding relationship between Ronnie Fieg and ASICS. The newest pair set to release from the dynamic duo is the Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel Lyte III “Flamingo”. Built with grey premium suede, mesh paneling, and flamingo pink branding, the “Flamingo” Gel Lyte III looks like a perfect sneaker to rock during the summer. No word on release information, but stay tuned to Nice Kicks for further details.
Asics has seen a resurgence in recent years with their retro runners, placing them at the top of the “classic running shoe” food chain. However, this jump to the top of the running shoe pile didn’t happen by accident or by chance; it happened mainly due to the dope collaborations Asics has done with designers and boutiques, using outside tastemakers and trendsetters to spruce up some of their classic kicks. The linchpin of this Asics renaissance is none other than Ronnie Fieg; clothier and boss of NYC boutique Kith, designer of some of the illest Asics in the past several years. Bangers like his “Rose Gold” Gel Lyte II and the Gel Lyte III “Super Blue” (created during his time at David Z) have helped cement his place in the pantheon of the sneaker gods, in only a few short years.
Today, we bring you a pic of his newest creation, the upcoming Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Flamingo”, directly from the man himself. The up-close shot gives us a different look than what we’ve seen in earlier previews, giving the tan upper a more drab appearance, while the periwinkle blue and peach-tinted pink accents also have a darker look. This is most likely due to lighting rather than any change in the actual shoe, so don’t be alarmed, dear readers. Premium suede and mesh make up the upper, while leather accents in the form of the Asics stripes on both sides of the shoes add another hit of color. Dual-colored rope laces tie things up, finishing off what looks to be one of the dopest Asics to drop this year (surely one of the most hyped).
You can be sure that this release will be an uber-difficult cop, as hype for Asics retro collabs has left the stratosphere. Look at the Saint Alfred’s non-release this past Saturday for proof; hyped-up sneakerheads crashed St. Alfred’s unprepared website, leaving them no choice but to reschedule the online release to a future date. If you plan on copping this upcoming release, you will need all the info you can get, and will need to be extra-prepared; Sneaker Files can help, as we will most definitely be updating the site with any pertinent release info as it becomes available, so if you aren’t locked in with us and haven’t made us a part of your daily info cycle, do so now, or forever miss out on sneaker releases.

Our best look yet arrives today as the Ronnie Fieg-designed kicks grace the upcoming cover of Sneaker Freaker Germany. As land and sea meet this Asics Gel Lyte III silhouette, the “Flamingo” is likely to include suede uppers in a tan hue while its overlays, insole, laces, and toe caps feature a salmon colorblocking. Adding flavor to its look will be subtle hits of light blue and a white midsole to finish off its look.
What screams sandy beaches and clear blue water, we suspect the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Flamingo” to arrive very soon. Check them out below and be sure to stick with Sneaker Files for official images and release date information!
Sneaker Freaker Germany is the first to pull the covers off this upcoming mash-up between Ronnie Fieg and ASICS in its 10th issue. A special edition of the Asics Gel Lyte III, the kicks appear in this “Flamingo” colorway marked by its softened blue and pink paired with a light grey suede-mesh upper and off-white midsole. Finishing off the pair are rope laces and a pink insole. The 10th issue of Sneaker Freaker Germany is set to release on June 25, while those looking forward to the shoes can expect their release in July.
For those of you that don’t remember, Ronnie Fieg, the NY clothing designer/sneaker master, showed us the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Saga “New York Knicks” last summer. Unfortunately, those kicks were a one of one sample, created by Fieg, for Fieg. Well, the boy’s done it again, pouring a truckload of salt on the Twitterverse by tweeting another pic of the very dope sample.
Now, most likely, this is just a case of Fieg breaking out an exclusive pair, 1 of (I can only imagine. And I do…) the countless exclusives stashed away in his closet; however, is it possible that this could be a teaser of something to come? Cue the “Jim Carrey as Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber” scene:
“So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”
We can dream, can’t we? Hit the jump for another pic of this NY-flavored pair (No ECP), and let us know if you’d like to see this bad boy release. Maybe, if we start a petition on Whitehouse.org, we can convince Fly Ronnie to do the world a favor and drop these in time for next spring. Get to work, internets!

Real Ronnie Fieg fans know there is even more to the New Yorker’s shoe design skills than his dyanamite Gel Lyte III colabs, he loves leather and has worked with plenty of dressier styles too. This new Sebago collection is the sixth collaborative release from the pair, and Fieg is dropping a ‘Schooner’ and ‘Dockside’ double pack to launch the line. Sipping a schooner dockside is a tantalising prospect to many Australians, and these boat shoes are definitely tasty treats for plenty of street and sea dwellers alike. Peep the flicks below and cop from Kith NYC stores and RonnieFieg.com.
Subscribers of Sneaker Freaker magazine will be treated to a small preview in their upcoming issue of the 3 collaborations Asics has in store for us. A Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaboration is nothing new (but always anticipated), but the collaborations with Boston shop Concepts and Chicago boutique St. Alfred are firsts. All three collabs utilize the uber-popular Gel Lyte III model as a canvas, and all three are certified bangers (no mash). Check out a small preview of each pair after the jump.
The Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Flamingo” features a cream mesh and nubuck upper, accented with a pastel salmon and periwinkle blue, atop a white midsole with a light blue outsole. Sure to be a hit (see Ronnie’s last Asics collaboration, the wildly popular ECP pack) these shoes definitely have that Ronnie Fieg flavor, and are sure to be a hit.
The Concepts version, going by the name “Three Lies”, features a colorblocking scheme eerily reminiscent of the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Salmon Toe”, which was a ginormous (yes, I used that word) hit amongst sneakerheads in 2011. Although the photo makes it a bit hard to tell the exact colors used, it appears to be a navy blue and tan upper atop a white speckled midsole and a navy blue outsole. What do you think the “Three Lies” nickname represents? Could it be a typo, and the true inspiration was “True Lies”, the blockbuster smash staring Arnold Schwarzenegger and a MILF-esque Jamie Lee Curtis? Your guess is as good as mine, friend.
Last, we’ve got the collaboration with St. Alfred. Featuring what appears to be a soft blue upper atop a tan midsole, these continue the beach vibe seen in the Ronnie Fieg “Flamingo”, possibly going for a surf-and-turf motif with the blue representing the water and the tan representing sand. Or, maybe they’re just huge UNC fans. Who can be sure of these things, especially this early in the game?
While there isn’t much info available on either of these collaborations, keep it locked with your friends at Sneaker Files for more info as it hits, and check out some pics after the jump. Feeling these collabs? Which one’s your favorite/least favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
