Iconic American brand Converse partners with the Italian lifestyle peddlers over at Slam Jam on a special edition Jack Purcell sneaker, which the duo has dubbed “Summer Journey.” As we noted in our preview, the look inspired by a trip out on the open waters, Slam Jam went with a water-repellent waffle canvas upper coated in a navy colorways with a summer-ready white rubber midsole and toe cap, presenting the perfect complement to almost any outfit you select. Even the signature Jack Purcell toe-smile is in place in red, matching the canvas lining and single-snap closure for a bold pop of color while “Summer Journey” is printed down the sneaker tongues, coincidentally matching the Slam Jam’s initials and capturing the feeling that inspired the collab. This Slam Jam x Converse Jack Purcell sneaker will be releasing in limited quantities beginning May 31 via these retailers as well as Amsterdam’s Patta, Berlin’s Firmament, and Shanghai’s Juice.

Kate Upton is set to premiere her first ever cover shoot with Vogue magazine, and in conjunction with the forthcoming debut, we are offered a look behind-the-scenes of the model and actress’s stint in Uruguay. Depicting the American beauty in a fairly conservative light in contrast to some of her previous photoshoots, Upton’s shorter hair and retro styled wardrobe seem to pair well. Listing off a handful of seasonal accessories that Kate can’t live without, the flick also shares an element of the equestrian theme that Vogue chose to highlight for the shoot.

This past week, 3D printing has been a source of controversy on social media, with the firing of the world’s first 3D-printed gun (craziness). A little less-publicised but with a rather more positive outcome is Amanda Ghassaei’s use of the technology to create the world’s first laser-cut vinyl disc made of wood, with grooves up…

Although we haven’t even hit the halfway mark of 2013, today we get our first peek the Nike Air Max+ 2014. Sporting an almost identical sole unit to the current AM 2013, the biggest changes here happen up above. Nike drop the Dynamic Flywire and trade in the wide open mesh textile for a fusion EM and Hyperfuse allowing for a multi-colour layering. Combined with two tone faded soles, the colour combo potential here is endless. Obviously these are a long way off from releasing, but stick with Sneaker Freaker and we’ll bring you the latest as the story unfolds. Images via Zzazin.
