To revitalize the art form of vinyl records, musician Jack White and his Third Man Records created a special LP set for the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby film. To complement the glitz and glamor portrayed in the film, Third Man Records went about to form the records in metallized discs, with Disc One in platinum and Disc Two in gold. To further the film’s design theme, artisans laser-cut its Art Deco motif onto the wooden LP jacket. Held together by aluminum spines, the sleeves and records feature elements of gold, platinum, aluminum, wood, and brass – effectively a retelling of The Great Gatsby in physical forms.
