Renowned street artist KAWS reveals his giant inflatable ‘Companion’ figure in at the Macy’s Day Parade in Manhattan.

As long time associates, Brian Donnelly or more commonly known as KAWS, has been a long-time friend and associate of CLOT founders Kevin Poon and Edison Chen. The result of this fruitful relationship has provided the Chinese market with a consistent glimpse of one of the most respected and relevant artists of the last decade. For an upcoming book signing at JUICE Hong Kong for Donnelly’s KAWS: DOWN TIME book, a special collaborative T-shirt has been created. Four colorways will be sold as exclusives to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and JUICE’s online store. The Hong Kong book set is available now for pre-order at JUICE CWB and TST for 0 HKD (approximately 6 USD).

In celebration of the publication of DOWN TIME, the hardcover book featuring artwork from KAWS’ 2012 exhibition of the same name at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Brooklyn-based artist partners with CLOT to release an exclusive KAWS: DOWN TIME tee, available in white, black, grey or red colorways. The tee will come bundled with the book as part of a set, retailing for HKD 0 and available for pre-order now at JUICE Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taipei. Additionally, KAWS himself will appear May 24th at JUICE Hong Kong for a special book signing event. Check out detailed looks of the collaborative tee in the gallery below.

Yesterday, the Grey Kaws Companion “Passing Through” figure hit the web store and sold out in roughly a minute. Hot on the heels of a version finished in brown, the KAWS Companion “Passing Through” Vinyl Figure in grey is scheduled to release tomorrow. Constituting some of the final pieces from OriginalFake‘s farewell tour, the “Passing Through” Companion is one of the more expressive pieces we’ve seen from KAWS, featuring the iconic Companion character in a seated position, holding his face in his Xed out hands. Look for it to launch tomorrow at 12 noon EST, both online and in-store at OrigianlFake’s Tokyo flagship. (Just make sure you’re prepared to buy, because the figures are sure to go quick. )

Following appearances at the likes of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, The Standard New York, Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, and more, KAWS’ “Passing Through” Companion finally made its debut in an obtainable, miniaturized form last month. Now, the artist and OriginalFake are due to present greyscale and black versions of the somber figure as an addition to last month’s release of a “brown” edition. While the grey iteration echoes the look of its full-size counterpart, the black piece comes in a completely murdered-out color scheme. Both designs were recently made available alongside matching tees and keychains at OriginalFake’s Tokyo storefront and could be available soon via KAWS’ own web shop.
With the opening tomorrow evening, KAWS has published this image on Instagram of one of the works from his highly anticipated exhibition at Kaikai Kiki Gallery. Entitled “Ohh…” I think I will leave it to you to inteprate the meaning of the body of works, none the less this makes for a must see with the works on view from May 2 to May 29.
