Tattooist and artist Scott Campbell’s latest solo show “Things Get Better” is set to open at the OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles. Campbell’s latest ink paintings focus on “Frankenguns,” the handmade tattoo guns built by prison inmates. The culmination of two years of research involving trips inside Mexican prisons to learn about these machines, Campbell’s latest project is a true labor of love for the artist. “Things Get Better” will be on show at OHWOW from May 23 to June 22.

After much delay due to sample clearance issues, the highly anticipated Owl Pharaoh is finally released in full. Over 13-tracks, the likes of T.I., 2 Chainz, Bon Iver, Toro y Moi, A$AP Ferg, James Fauntleroy and Theophilus London jump on the eclectic mixtape, showing Travi$ Scott’s recognizable trap-infused approach to hip-hop alongside an acute ear for indie and even dance music elements. “Upper Echelon” has already surfaced as a hit single in the blogosphere, while “Blocka La Flame” nods at his own version of Pusha T’s “Blocka,” before delving into more experimental territory with ”Chaz Interlude” and falling back on an introvert tip with “Naked.” The diverse assortment of hits further accredits Travi$’s recent feature in XXL‘s 2013 Freshmen class, putting the G.O.O.D Music affiliate firmly on the map as one of hip-hop’s most promising young recruits.
Prolific tattoo artist and contemporary artist, Scott Campbell, usually explores themes and materials that are less common in the mainstream. For his upcoming solo exhibition at OHWOW in Los Angeles, Campbell presents works that reflect his experience with prison tattoo culture. Inmates collect all of the necessary equipment from ready available items in prison, reconstructing tattoo machines from electronic razors, guitar strings, and toothbrushes. Campbell conceived prison tattoo machines in his studio, then illustrating them in a series of realistic studies. “Things Get Better” opens at the end of this month until the end of June 2013.

What’s likely to garner lots of attention in the coming months of its Fall/Winter 2013 release, stay tuned to Sneaker Files for more news and updates on this release.
There is no need to adjust your computer monitor, the image see here is actually “pixelated” to begin with. Not one with a conventional approach to design, Jeremy Scott will add on some “8-bit fun” this coming season with his new adidas Originals JS Wings 2.0 “Pixels”. Identical to the former JS Wings 2.0 with the exception of pixelated wings and adidas‘ three-strip, we can only imagine what the apparel collection will look like once the collection as a whole comes out later on this year.
