Warmer weather may feel a long way away for many of us but that shouldn’t stop us daydreaming of better times, coat and woolly sock-free. Gypsy & Sons‘ vision for Spring Summer 2013 is a tempting one. The ‘Colonial Resort’ collection draws in fabrics and prints from around the world, rolls up a loose pair of trousers, throws in some deep indigo goodness and just kicks back. It works.

Japanese brand Native Sons is the brainchildof designers Shinzuki Takizawa and Tommy O’Gara, the pair to whom this project was born to last year. The brand has just released its second Spring/Summer collection, entitled “Sons of Glory.” A large part of the brand’s feel is rooted in its acknowledgement of the past– this can be evidenced from the name, antique-style silhouettes, and even the names of the models (eg: Salinger, Thompson, Kerouac). By using Type 2 metals and Type 4 plastics though– high-grade materials in their respective categories — the new Native Sons line is a contemporary take on a nod to history.
William Fox & Sons present looks from their Spring Summer 2013 collection. A colourful line-up that makes extensive use of African inspired print, most notably in single-breasted blazers, head-to-toe also available for the brave in a matching shirt n’ shorts combo. “Vibrant colour and unexpected pattern, all sat atop a range of time-honoured, classic silhouettes,” take a look through the LIFE magazine set-up in our gallery.

Native Sons is a new luxury eyewear and accessories brand headed by Tommy O’Gara, former president/director of DITA Asia, and Shinsuke Takizawa, creator of NEIGHBORHOOD. The brand is named for the native sons who returned from the World War and kick started the “Industrial Design Revolution” with both avant-garde and utilitarian designs that are still admired today.
Handcrafted at Tommy’s theLIGHT Co. Ltd. factory, Native Sons uses old world manufacturing methods with only the best materials. All acetate frames are cellulose based and feature a signature star-nut hinge configuration, while the metal frames are created with high-grade titanium, each with antique plating and hand finished details.
Fans of Dita’s premium eyewear will be interested to know that Tommy O’Gara, the brand’s one-time president, has partnered with Neighborhood founder Shinsuke Takizawa to launch a new label, Native Sons. Considering the rarefied pedigree, it’s little surprise that the eyewear manufacturer’s inaugural collection contains handmade frames that showcase classic styling and the highest quality materials. They come in either Japanese zyl acetate or custom titanium variations, each meticulously crafted in Japan. The glimpse of the optical and sunglass styles below reveal retro-influenced silhouettes infused with a contemporary spirit, in both solid and tortoiseshell hues. via: Honeyee
