Old is new again with the opening of the Gale Hotel on Miami’s South Beach. Built in 1941 as the Regent Hotel, the new Gale Hotel retains the glory of the building past by paying special attention to the structures original art deco flavor. “The new establishment juxtaposes terrazzo floors, exacting light fixture replicas, stucco accents, and existing porthole windows with plush, contemporary flourishes such as silk wall coverings, dark wood paneling, and hand-woven area rugs.” Now fitted with 87 rooms, the Gale Hotel retains the ’40s styling through chandeliers, scones, marble window frames, and other classic hints.

Opened late last year near the Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations of the London Underground, London’s South Place Hotel is the latest luxury hotel to open in the heart of the English capital and boasts 80 rooms, two restaurants, three bars, and five private dining and meeting rooms. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the establishment is an installation created by artist Cathy Miles in conjunction with D&D London and Conran & Partners. Consisting of 40 individual wire shoes, the installation is a bold experimentation with color and features everything from brogues and loafers to heels and flats alike. Enjoy a glimpse of the set-up here and be sure to head on over to the hotel if you’re in the area in order to take in the display in its entirety.

American artist Pae White brings some beautiful yarn messages to the South London Gallery via Too Much Night Again. Using strands stretched across the gallery space, messages can only be read at certain angles, forcing the viewer to explore the entire gallery in order to decipher her words. “Inspired by a period of insomnia and consequent reflection on the transience of our existence, the letters and words emerge and dissolve depending on both our physical relationship to them and the relative weight of the overall aesthetic experience. ” Take a look at the installation of the piece and hear from Rae herself in the video below. More in the gallery.

Taking color cues from the hyped up Lebron 8 “South Beach” and the Lebron 9 Elite “Miami Vice” this Lebron 8.5 custom takes the best of both models.
Accenting the black original base with dripping turquoise paint, and speckled design, every detail has a unique accent. The swoosh is bright flamingo bordered in turquoise. The King James Lion is filled with the two dominant colors, and there is a grey Flywire area, and turquoise midsole, both speckled.

Japanese brand SOUTH 2 WEST 8 presents a new collection of printed fleece for Spring/Summer 2013 season. The collection is notable for its departure from the brand’s wide offering of utility bags, yet a smart combination of materials and colors preserves the brand’s outdoor aesthetics. Drawing influence from animal representations through symbols, deer, owls, small fish, and birds are printed onto the selection of hoodies and climber pants. Whereas the main body retains a beautifully dyed natural maroon, the pieces are tastefully lined with black around the openings. The Printed Fleece Climber Pant will retail for ¥18,900 JPY (approximately 9 USD), while the Printed Fleece Hoody will go for ¥19,950 JPY (approximately 0 USD). Both are now available at NEPENTHES in Tokyo.
