Reserve Channel – “ARTST TLK” With Pharrell Williams: Tony Hawk | Video
Reserve Channel just uploaded the latest episode of “ARTS TLK” with Pharrell Williams. Technically speaking, Tony Hawk may not be your average artist; however, skateboarding can be considered as an art form. As skateboarding is as much a sport as it is a tool for self-expression. Breaking the usual format of three-person discussion, this episode is a much more intimate setting with just Williams and Hawk at the round table. Hawk speaks extensively about his childhood, turning pro, his video games, and his son, who also followed his footsteps as a skateboarder. Watch the fun filled episode below.

Pharrell Interviews Tony Hawk

In the latest edition of his ongoing series ARTST TLK from Reserve Channel, Pharrell sits down for a round table discussion with Tony Hawk. Hawk is undeniably the ambassador of skateboarding to the rest of pop culture, having revolutionized vert maneuvers and business practices alike in his journey to alpine success. As a self-described “hyper-energetic” child, The Birdman can now sit admirably and calmly as he discusses raising children, organizing a concert and, of course, his love of skateboarding with Pharrell. It’s probably safe to say that Hawk’s contribution to skateboarding is invaluable, a point underlined by this engaging interview.
Kicks On Court: Tony Wroten Has Highlight of the Night in Air Pippen I
You may not be familiar with Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Wroten or his footwear, for that matter. The former Washington Huskie laced up a variety of Jordans and Nike classics during his time in the Northwest, and with the recent trade between the Grizzlies and Cavs, we should see a lot more of Wroten and his footwear on court. In last night’s win against the Brooklyn Nets, Wroten contributed 11 points off the bench, including a throw down on Kris Humphries, while wearing the Nike Air Pippen I. This is the first time we’ve seen a Pippen signature on court this season, so props to Wroten for wearing these. View these kicks plus more, worn by Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Deron Williams and others, in today’s edition of Kicks On Court.

Acura NSX Hybrid Concept Car – “A Supercar Worthy Of Tony Stark”

No, it isn’t ready yet. And it won’t be for the next year or two. But the Acura NSX Concept currently on the floor of Detroit Auto Show still garnered a sizable crowd. While the hybrid supercar made its official debut in last year’s show, the current mock-up on display will be the closest to the real thing.
Dynamic performance to come from a direct-injected V6 engine linked with Acura’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, a three-motor system with one integrated with the V6 while two others power the front wheels. Like the NSX of previous generation, the majority of powerplant and drivetrain will be mid-mounted instead, to create the optimal control at high-speed. Designed around two themes – “Human Support Cockpit” and “Simple Sports Interface”, the interior is free of clutter. Streamlined to push button gear selector and digital display, an wide windshield provides a near perfect peripheral view for enjoyment and situation awareness. So will the Acura NSX Concept by worthy of Tony Stark? We will have to wait till the production model comes out.

It’s official. The decision has been made as Tony Parker has left Nike to join forces with PEAK basketball.
Having signed a 3-year .2 million deal with the company, Tony Parker will look to help a growing brand and potentially recieve his own signature shoe. We must admit that its been a crazy past year for sneaker contracts. With other players like Dwyane Wade leaving Jordan Brand for Li-Ning and Russell Westbrook to Jordan Brand, Parker becomes the latest NBA player to jump ship. Parker however joins good company; PEAK already has other NBA players like Anthony Morrow, C.J. Watson, Patrick Patterson, and Shane Battier.

Tony Alva Talks Frog Throwing

As part of their continuing Classic Tales series, Tony Alva offers up a whopper of a story for Vans. A tale of a rather strange occurrence taking place on the North Shore of Oahu, Alva recounts a rather surreal and bizarre experience with his partner in crime, Bunker Spreckels. If there’s one life lesson to be drawn from this tale, it’s that you should be mindful of your surroundings and that you shouldn’t “toss frogs unless you know they’re going to hit the pool.”
R.I.P. – Tony Goldman 1943 – 2012 | Proprietor of Bowery Mural + Savior of SoHo Neighborhood

Unlike his counterparts in the real estate development industry, where profit margin was, is, and forever the core to their businesses, Tony Goldman saw himself, first and foremost, as a builder instead. During a 2000 interview with The New York Times, Goldman said “Developers are knock ’em down, build ’em up guys. That’s not me.” Instead, he became a visionaire of sort in the possibility of long forsaken neighborhoods like New York City’s SoHo.
Once brimful with manufacturing businesses, SoHo was just a shell of its former self by the 1970s, with boarded up buildings and crime ridden streets. Goldman saw otherwise and started its transformation. By preserving not just SoHo’s buildings, its quirky atmosphere, but also attracting more artist-centric residents, Goldman in effect created New York City’s first unofficial art district in its modern history. Success was such that the developer turned preservationist applied the same formula to the Miami’s South Beach during 1980s, Philadelphia and New York City’s Financial District in 1990s, and most recently the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, which is now brimmed with artist studios and galleries.
A consummate insider of the contemporary art world as well as a partner to artists and gallerists like Jeffrey Deitch, Goldman knew art’s transformative effect. Around 2008, he tackled his most popularized project to date with a concrete wall remnant at the corner of Bowery and East Houston Street. Now known as the Bowery Mural, the public art space re-introduced a bit of SoHo’s former grittiness with works from artists Os Gemeos, Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, RETNA, FAILE (seen here), and the current work by Aiko.
An artist in his own, Tony Goldman passed away last Tuesday of heart failure at the age of 68. In a short statement by his family, they wrote, “To the community he touched, he was a transforming, once-in-a-lifetime figure. To us, he was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and doting grandfather.” He’s survived by his wife Janet, his son Joey, daughter Jessica, and Goldman Properties, the firm he built.
